| Dalia
has been creating her own unique style of dance, called "Dunyavi Gypsy (Rom)
Dance", since 1985. Over the years, Dalia has extensively researched and gathered
information on the Rom throughout the world. Dalia's focus has been on the Roma
movements primarily from Turkey, Spain and India. She has taken the movements
indigenous to these regions and fused them together to create this unique dance
form. The word "Dunyavi" is a Hindi word which means "world". At the suggestion
of a Katak teacher, Dalia chose a Hindi word to describe this art form which
follows the Romany Trail back to its origins in Northern India. Dalia's ongoing
interest in the history and the dance of the Romany Trail keeps expanding with
her continued education. Her creativity of blending these Roma dance forms together
is expressed in a firery and passionate dance experience.
She continues to attend lectures and ethnic events, and studies with master dance teachers from Egypt, Turkey, India and Spain. This has helped her solidify the essences of the feelings and movements from the cultures she fuses. |
